*BSD

"*BSD" is a common shorthand for the phrase "all versions of BSD." The three (four) major versions of BSD all have enough of a shared heritage that they frequently have the same behaviour. However, this may differ from other Unix operating systems, such as Solaris or Linux that is is useful to group them seperately.
