IPv6 is the next generation Internet. Here are some facts about IPv6:

  • IP Address space is 128 bits (as compared to IPv4's 32 bits)
  • broadcasting is not inherited from IPv4
  • Multicasting has a "scope" field which improves scalability
  • IPv6 header is simpler than IPv4 header
  • most operating systems support it now
