Shawarma

This will page will document our steps for a DIY Shawarma skewer.

The initial plan is to obtain the following items:

• microwave
• heating elements from a stove
• sheet metal
• a metal skewer
• electrical wire and wall plug

The skewer involves two parts, the rotating skewer and the elements behind it.

Skewer

Take the top off a microwave, and pull out the magnatron. Then we attach a metal skewer after sharpening the tip to the middle of the rotating microwave disk. Now when you turn the microwave on, you don't have the radiation, but you have the rotating skewer

Elements

We will bend sheet metal with 2 creases, to surround ~50% of the skewer. We will then drill 4 holes though the sheet metal, attaching the heating elements to the inside, while running wires from the outside directly to a 110v wall plug.
